Auctions are serious business. They are the only exception to confirmed trades, where once an auction is won, a trade is confirmed. Here is a small guide to help you understand how Auctions work: To post a legitimate auction, you are required to have FIVE parts: 1. The Card(s)/Item(s) up for auction. 2. The Minimum(s) for the card(s), along with any qualifications for an "Auto-Win"(Automatic Win) if necessary. 3. A list of your wants or description of the type of materials/cards you want. 4.) You MUST state the rarity of your cards and the cards you desire. If rarity is irrelevant in your wants, SAY SO. 5.) There are 3 types of auctions.
When posting an auction, you must put which type it is in the "Topic Description" box under the title, and reiterate it underneath the Lot # A sixth part, a set of Rules, is acceptable, but not required. As a default, all auctions will follow these basic rules. Here are the rules for all auctions as a default:
Here is an example of a rule-adhering auction with 1 Lot:
Now, you can choose to have an auction of selling only. Here is an example.
Furthermore, you can do a combined auction of Selling and Trading. Example:
Here is a break-down and F.A.Q. of Auctions. You may reference these rules and answers in your own concerns. The following is basically written law for the auction forum: 1) What should I do if I have a question or concern about an auction at any time and I don't know the answer?: The basic answer is simple- PM A MODERATOR IMMEDIATLEY. Do NOT engage a member in a harrassing way, do not solve problems on your own, and do not begin unnecessary fights. If you have a question to ask, please ask it, but ultimatley let the Trade Moderators of Twilight Gaming Staff take care of any concerns you may have. Additionally, if there is a problem taking place, PM a Moderator and let them know. If you are not invloved, don't let yourself be and refrain from posting. Report the problem. 2) Are there any items I can't put up for auction, request from an auction, or just trade in general?: Yes, in fact here's a simple list of things we do not allow to be traded or placed in auctions: -Adult Material (Anything that would be deemed rated "R", "NC-17", "XXX".) -Alcoholic beverages and/or drugs of any kind. -Weapons (Guns, Knives, Swords, etc.) -Fireworks and firearms -Grab Bags (Anything of random content) -Intangible Items (Anything you cannot hold in your hand or account for without a photograph is considered intangible- this includes member accounts, secrets, passwords, promises, etc.) -Pending Items and Items you do not have on hand 3)What do I need to know when posting an auction?: BE SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE. This includes for your minimums, autos, lots, and wants. (Don't allow others to fill in gaps and holes that lead to you recieving something you didn't want.) 4)My Auction is taking place right now. What do I need to know?: Let's review some of the simpler things to know while your auction is going on- -Auctions last as long as you like as long as is is under a month and make sure you state when it-ends clearly. And you're only allowed one auction at a time. -If you wish to bump your auction to the top of the Auctions forum, simply reply to the topic with "bump" only after 6 hours from the most recent post has passed. -If there's been a bid, you can't edit your auction in any way, shape or form. You should've reviewed your auction before posting it in the first place. -If you recieve a bid through Private Message, you need to remind that person that all bids must be posted. -Don't check lists. For ANY reason. 5) I want to bid on an auction, what do I need to know?: You need to know the following things: -If no one else has posted, you NEED to QUOTE the first post. -You must follow and pay attention to all of the rules and previous posts of the auction. -Make a reminder somewhere, somehow, to remind you to check back to the auction to see if someone has outbid you. -If you are currently leading, you cannot back out without recieving a block warning and being added to the trade cancellor's list. Even if you are not winning, you need to post if you are backing out incase you become the winner later. All bids are BINDING CONTRACTS as long as they meet the minimums or Auto-wins of an auction. 6)I/They won! Now what?: Wait for the auctioneer. They have 5 days to contact you and and confirm your win. If you are the auctioneer, you have 5 days to contact the winner or recieve a block warning and trade cancel. If you're the winner, you have 3 days to respond to that contact. 7) I really wanted money, or to win money. What can I do?: Since we do not allow monetary transactions on this Forum, members have used an alternative in gift certificates/cards. If gift cards/certificates are involved in any auction, they must follow the following guidelines: -No more than 2 Gift cards per auction, maximum value per giftcard is limited to $20. -Each auction that has a minimum which includes giftcards should have a minimum that can also be reached solely by bidding cards and/or other items such as video games etc... -Gift cards alone cannot auto-win auctions. Other items must be included in the bid to auto. 8)I need assistance. How can I be helped?: We are here. If you have ANY problems or concerns, whether it be disruptive traders, disrespectful traders, bad lists, fake references- anything- Send us a Report or PM. We'll get to it. If you need help remembering who you can PM, don't worry! Here's a Small List: ~DK~ In addition to problems, you can ALWAYS request a Middleman Trade. We recommend Middleman Trading because it's safe and efficient. The ONLY cost we will EVER charge you is to pay for the shipping. For example, a .42c Stamp will do fine.Always remember to check the 3-Strikes Topic if you decide not to do a MiddleMan trade. Or better yet, Check it anyway- If there's someone with a Strike, request a Middleman Trade. It can't hurt to be safe, right? 9) Someone's not playing by the rules. How would I know?: Aside from these rules, there's some sly weasels out there that take advantage from other members. Here are two excerpts from previous rules threads that you should keep in mind: -We don't allow references from other sites. This also isn't a disappointment rule, this is mainly to protect our traders. We do not affiliate ourselves with any other sites, and we do not have their records. For all we know you could be lying to us about your 150+ references from Pojo or Realms- we wouldn't know. If you think you references from other sites are useable here, you're wrong. You need to work just as much as a reputation here as you did there. Sorry to disappoint you, but we find it MUCH easier to build up trust here more than anything. -Our "powers" are to an extent- anything that you do off of the boards, which includes shipping, phone calls, personal meetings, mail fraud- are all things we have NO control over. While we will help you to the fullest, you are fully responsible for anything that occurs off of this board. 10)Anything Else I should I know?: If you read the rules, you are more prepared for any problems that may occur. If you just skimmed the preceeding set of guidelines and rules, we really don't have sympathy for you. We explained everything possible and allow you to ask questions. We took the time out of our lives, sometimes up to hours at a time, to type all of this up and think of it prior. Having fun and doing trades is what we strive for in the Trading forum. Make the best of it, and if there are ANY problems, involved or not, let us know. We appreciate you to take the 10 minutes of your time to read and follow these guidelines. Thank-you, and have a safe and enjoyable trading experience while here on Twilight Gaming. Please feel free to respond and post any questions you may have. ~The Twilight Gaming Trading Staff. Special thanks to the trade staff of ETC for the rules. Edited by D-Watch, Jun 26 2010, 12:20 AM.
