Basically, an EDH is a 99 card deck, 100 including the general. You have 42 lands 30 creatures and 28 total of a mixture between sorcery's enchantments instants and artifacts. and example is my deck my EDHhttp://www.mtgfanatic.com/Decks/ViewDeck.aspx?ID=85402&Page=1&PageSize=25 |

You really put 42 lands in your edh deck? that seems like a little too much. My friends and I normally end up with about 34 lands and 8 artifacts to produce mana. |

The ratios of lands to spells and creatures to non-creatures are largely dictated by what your deck is trying to do and what you expect your opponents' decks to try to do. For example, in areas with large amounts of global artifact destruction, it's often better to run more lands to prevent your mana from being sabotaged, and vice versa in areas with large amounts of global land destruction (although that's often rarer because few people enjoy that and many play groups frown on it). That said, my default is 37 land, a few artifacts (always Sol Ring and Darksteel Ingot, sometimes others depending on my colors), and some number of land search spells (Armillary Sphere is a good one if not in green). |
