well, as the title says, im thinking about starting pokemon.

i see quite a few people at my naruto locals playing, and it seems fun, but dont really know how to play.

anyway, i just have a few questions:

how balanced is the game?
what is the meta right now?
how do you play?
how is rareity in a card determined?
what is the best way to get a good start without spending alot of money(keep in mind that since im 13, my 'alot of money' might be different from yours) :)

anyone who can help, please do. id appriciate it.

THANX!

I can only answer about rarity and saving money so:

Commons are distingushed by a circle in the lower right corner.

Uncommon is a diamond.

Rare is a star.

If it is a Pokemon EX , the star is usually foiled

don;t know about SP or LVX.

now about saving money :

I would get any theme deck to start (60 cards = S20).

Preconstructed decks usually sell between $10.00 to $12.00 (US). If you are starting out and need a deck, I will recommend any preconstructed deck from the Platinum and HeartGold & SoulSilver series.

Pokemon prime are not overly good, in my opinion.
While as individual cards they would be decent, the fact you need both cards in hand kills it.

Two conceptual ideas were introduced in HS. Pokémon Prime are regular Pokémon with better attacks and higher HP. Nothing significant about them. Pokémon Legend are Pokémon that take up two cards to be played directly from your hand onto your bench.
